was saved during the period of the Russian Revolution of 1917 (Raoul Perrot & Alisa Vladi)

Introductory part (Alisa Vlady)

This photo gallery was created as part of the scientific work of the two co-authors: Raoul Perrot, Honorary Professor of Anatomical Anthropology, Doctor of Science, Doctor of Human Biology. Honorary expert in forensic anthropology at the Court of Appeal of Lyon. Specialist in Similarity Biometrics, and the great-granddaughter of Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna Romanova, Grand Duchess Alisa Vladimirovna, of the Holstein- Gottorp Romanov Dynasty.

Raoul Perrot has achieved what other scholars of the history of our Holstein-Gottorp-Romanov dynasty have not been able to do. Indeed, with the help of photographs from my family archives, he managed to identify Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna and confirm the fact of her rescue. The chosen age limit of seventeen years for the Emperor’s youngest daughter, Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna Romanova, was determined by the tragic events in the life of Imperial Russia and the ruin of the family nest of our imperial ancestors. Photos of my great-grandmother, Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna Romanova, before the age of seventeen, are known and publicly available in various news sources around the world. In contrast, the photographs of my great-grandmother, after the age of seventeen, presented in this study, are unique and have never been exhibited to the public.

With the help of photographs available in the public domain and in the personal archives of the direct heirs of the Holstein-Gottorp Romanov dynasty, Raoul Perrot Honorary Professor of Anatomical Anthropology, Doctor of Science, Doctor of Human Biology. Honorary expert in forensic anthropology at the Court of Appeal of Lyon. Specialist in similarity biometrics, enthusiastically accepted the challenge of conducting a study of the photographs of my great-grandmother Anastasia Nikolaevna Romanova before and after her seventeenth birthday with the aim of drawing a definitive conclusion about the fate of Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna Romanova using the scientific method of similarity biometrics of which he is the specialist.

In this way, he was able to provide an inescapable answer to the question posed for more than a century by the many scientists engaged in research into the fate of the imperial family after the revolutionary coup d'état in Russia in 1917–1918. These researchers have all been wrong in their conclusions, missing the only truth about the real fate of the family of Emperor Nikolai II Alexandrovich, namely the survival of some of its members, especially Anastasia !!

Conclusion (Raoul Perrot)

This year 2024 marks the 106th anniversary of the dramatic events of 1918, which officially recorded terrorist actions against the family of Emperor Nicholas II in Russia.  The information about what is happening in the Ipatiev house in Yekaterinburg, Russia, which is presented through various means as the truth about the royal family of Holstein-Gottorp Romanov, although none of them has reliable information about the situation that developed in Yekaterinburg in 1918, is full of speculations and false theories.  Including information about Tsar Nicholas II and Tsarina Alexandra Feodorovna's youngest daughter, Anastasia, who became a real-life character with fictional plots in novels and movies.  Her fame has led to many hypotheses about her fate: she lived or died (1), not to mention the appearance of fake Anastasias!

The work presented today, which provides irrefutable scientific proof of Anastasia's survival, is the result of a chance meeting between Alice Vladi (Anastasia's great-great-granddaughter) and the author of these lines!

Alice, for a long time, looked for ways to confirm the fact of the salvation of her great-grandmother, the Grand Duchess, Anastasia Nikolaevna Romanova.  After asking a well-known human rights lawyer for help in finding the right specialist, she received a referral to ask me for help as a recognized specialist in similarity biometrics, with the aim of being able to determine and confithe identity of Alice's great-grandmother, Anastasia Romanova.  Alice, knowing my name, scoured the internet and quickly found the website of the Anatomic Anthropology Laboratory of Lyon (France) allowing her to learn about some of my work: those relating to the comparison de Photographs of faces using a methodology originally developed for the identification of people who have committed armed robberies. This methodology was then extended to any comparison of people!  So Alice contacted me thinking (hoping) that the similarity biometric would help her demonstrate what she had known for a long time, namely that her great-great-grandmother had not died in 1918!!  His request surprised me, especially since the proposed research curiously created an unexpected emotional link with my 1950s, when, as a young man, on holiday in the south of France (Le Brusc-sur-Mer/Var), I had the great honor of being received as a friend by Princess Marina Petrovna Romanovna (niece of the Tsar) and her husband, Prince Alexander Golitsyn!

The success of our joint work, in addition to the scientific part, is based on the important family iconographic collection assembled with patience and love by Alisa Vladi! These documents, the authenticity of which cannot be disputed, present a gallery of portraits that visually present a very similar facial morphology (2), which allows us to see that these people are all linked by a common genetics! It should be noted that Alice's DNA tests confirm this relationship, corresponding to the degree of kinship.

As for the article itself, we had to make a choice of photographs and in the end, for this comparative review, we chose 5 faces of Anastasia: 7 years old, 9 years old - 20 years old, 60 years old - 70 years old. Also attached are photos of Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna Romanova at the age of 50 and 80! We refer the reader to the corresponding text.

(1)For example, the current Wikipedia section dedicated to Anastasia [Anastasia Nikolaïevna de Russie — Wikipédia (wikipedia.org]  considers her to be  deceased  : "Anastasia Nikolaevna Romanova (Russian: Anastasia Nikolaevna Romanova) (June 18, 1901 (June 5 of the Julian calendar) in Peterhof - murdered with her family on July 17, 1918 in Yekaterinburg, in the Villa Ipatiev, was a Grand Duchess of Russia."

(2)It should be noted that taking facial morphology into account in the comparison of two faces can (although subjective) provide significant additional information to morphometrics, the basis of the biometric similarity.
